F86 X6M! Black MONSTER!

Traded the M6 cab for this bad boy. V-Day gift for the wife. Amazing how this thing drives like a sports car. Crazy acceleration and very very very little body roll...dare I say less than most coupes I've ever driven. Reviews were stellar and they were spot on.

LOL! No, I did it. After several attempts. Ugh...

Oh it just grips and goes from a dig. I don't know if I'll tune it but it would be nuts. Of course it's not like a lot of the cars you and I drive but it really is extremely nimble. Surprisingly so. Great car to run around in. If she gets tired of it I'll keep it for myself. Not likely though. First run to the store and she got a compliment.

And I should add here for Henry, before I hear about how crazy I am in making this purchase...Her payment went DOWN with ZERO cash out of pocket! And she wanted a Tesla Model X. In my book that's some smart economics...relatively speaking.

Nice! I have test driven that beast before, and it was a blast. Your kids are still little, so the limited headroom behind is of no issue. Great replacement car for the M6 cabrio! Apart from the drive, i really like the greatly improved all round camera. They improved it over the version on the M5 and the view is so much more accurate now.

I can remember thinking that the e71 had a similar feel to a Golf GTi chassis when I test drove one. E70 was not quite there in comparison. Amazing how this type of car can be made to feel so incisive.

I'm planning to test drive an F85 and a Macan as a DD and your feedback is not helping restrain the man maths, lol.

Thanks! Yeah, kids are small although surprisingly I have zero headroom issues in the rear and I'm 6'2". It is a much more refined car than the M6 cab. It just feels very tight and responsive and smooth. And you are very right about the cameras. The tech is utterly amazing.

Hahahahaha! Yeah,it's a whole different animal than the past X5/X6 variants. I truly cannot believe how it carves up the roads. I haven't fully put it through it's paces yet but it has surprised me thus far. Wife liked the look of the Macan. We didn't drive it but it's supposed to be pretty impressive as well. Just too small for us. And the Cayenne just seems to need and update. I love them but when you look at the interior the X6 appears more sporty and luxurious. A great combo. Good luck!

I test drove the car months ago. it's a beast with no doubt. The only issue (not really issue) compare to M5/M6 is transmission. I mean it's not as sharp (read fast) as DCT... and it's heavy (which is supposed to be as SUV).. much nicer and sexier than X5M IMO

Congratulations Coldlist. Your car is faster than Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT & Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Also a tuned one can beat ZR1 here is X5M vs ZR1

As far as transmission goes, I am not really a huge fan of the DCT on the M5. I have always liked ZF automatics and they usually perform very well on BMWs. The DCT on the M5 made the car unpredictable at times with the clutch bike. Torque converters are more suited for turbo cars esp large sedans. DCTs are more suited for sports cars.

You can take corners at sports cars speed for the most part. Just don't attempt to late brake into a corner. The weight is still there.

Agreed 1000%. It's impressive how fast the ZF shifts in manual mode too. Obviously not like a DCT but I believe it's faster than my Z07. Weird.

Ha you passed the financial test buddy. I actually like it, and you had to dump the M6 so it makes sense. Glade you leased it because the prices are horrible on the 6 plus convertibles. Good move bro. Catch up soo still want to drive the MAC.

The ZF is a great tq converting transmission; couple it with the right software and the shift speeds are very strong. I have had the opportunity to own several of these ZF's and they have been powerful thru and thru, especially with tunes. They wont match up to the speed of a DCT or the power efficiency to the ground but they can handle gobs of tq and mods.

Yes! I can't believe it!-LOL! It really was a good move. And it's the BMW Owner's Choice plan instead of the lease so the tax credit is available when we trade in 3 yrs. :-) Geeezzzz....I made a financially sound purchase. This is an odd feeling. It was spur of the moment so there's that.

Let's do it man. Hit me up when you're here and we have some decent weather. Raining like crazy right now. Once again, hating Vic just knowing he's on a patio somewhere overlooking canyons and sipping cervezas. :-)

It really is a great transmission. So fast in auto mode in my Vette. Lacks quite a bit when shifting manually but oh well. Definitely faster in the X6M which doesn't make much sense. More hp/tq in the Z07 and RWD.
