Power Washers

The M4 has OK stock wheels - they look OK.
However they are a PITA to get completely clean.

Thinking of buying an electric power washer for the job - something I have considered for previous cars, but never followed through with.

What's the upside/downside? Will it dull the finish? Make me really wet? Annoy the neighbours? Or leave me with nice clean wheels in a jiffy?

I'm interested if anyone does this and what their experience is.

There is no down side. I have had a engine powered one for years. I wouldn't have it any other way. Spray the wheels down with some sort of cleaner, let it sit a bit, use a turbo nozzle blast them off. Then I usually wipe them down with a rag later on when I've done the rest of the car.

There is no downside, though I would want a real one and not an electric.

But with these brake pads it takes about 1 hour of driving to be crappy again.

Compared to the old M359 ZCP wheels, the 437's are a breeze to clean.

In general, a pressure washer alone will not be enough to get your wheels clean, depending on your definition of clean. You will need a decent wheel brush, like wheel woolies or an EZ-detail brush.

I dont like to use pressured water on my brake parts. I use it to wash the rest of my cars but just a hose and light presure on the wheels

lots of work with a wash mitt as wheel brush cant reach between spokes

Here's one of the best tips for your wheels. No need for pressure washer.

1. Wheel Cleaner
2. Wheel Sealant

I've used a bunch of wheel cleaners through the years, nothing imo compares with the poorboys wheel cleaner.... Absolutely top notch stuff
