How obnoxious is your exhaust?

Thought my mpe was loud on cold start. I unplugged the exhaust flap controllers yesterday. Holy Shit it's freaking louder now. I was even annoyed. It calmed down after a few seconds. I'm gonna piss off the neighborhood. Any you guys have folks that are annoyed by your exhaust?

I'm stock.. disconnected my exhaust valve fuses for a day, and put them back in. I loved the sound at first but then I figured if it's always open then I don't get the extra thrill of the valves opening when I'm WOT.. plus I live in a fairly quite neighborhood and I don't want to be that young punk guy

I've had the flaps disconnected for while. If you tap the gas a little right after start up it's a little quieter.

I don't feel anything for the neighbors, it's a stock M3. My old neighbor had a LOUD jeep and he would leave for work six something in the morning, even on weekends. Didn't bother me a bit. IMO it's only annoying if someone is going WOT in a residential neighborhood early/late in the day.

The MPE is loud enough as it is! I can't imagine it without the flap

Cool

i'm stock.

With the valves open on a cold start (during winter it's 45 degrees in my garage) It is just too loud. My neighbor has young children so i don't want to be an A-hole and wake up the children if I have to leave early in the morning.

Even with the valves closed, if I'm leaving very early in the morning (4am) I will start the car with the garage door closed for about 3 seconds. The first 10 seconds of a cold start is pretty loud. Even stock, even with the valves closed.

We tend to forget just how loud compared to a normal car.

Just a few days ago i started my car (with the valves closed) and got out of the car right after and went behind the car. And I was WHOA this is loud.

It is really loud for the first 10 to 15 seconds.

And I like it. My neighbors, maybe not so much but i really feather the throttle out of my driveway.

I have the AWE Non-Resonated exhaust and the BMS can flap module but I keep my flaps open basically 100% of the time. On cold starts in my garage it is LOUD, it reminds me of a cigarette boat until it warms up. Luckily my neighbors are far enough away but my wife always makes comments and there's no sneaking out of my house. I've scared some morning walkers/ joggers when I get on it leaving my neighborhood. Theres are some other really loud cars in my area so I think everyone just deals with it.

Recently I was at a bachelor party at Foxwoods Casino and I stayed overnight. The next morning I went to get the car from the valet and I could hear my car start in the enclosed garage across the street. People waiting for their cars were giving me looks and the valet said "I thought this thing was diesel when I started it". So yeah, I love the exhaust.

My stock exhaust is the quietest exhaust in my run group out on the track. Annoying sometimes.

I did the flap mod. Very loud on startup, fun but when you want to be a bit more stealth it's difficult.

I don't think it's ever loud enough lol. If you guys are complaining about stock and MPE being too loud you ought to hear IPE or meistershaft coupled with downpipes. THEN u will truly know noise from the S55 lol.

I recall someone posting a sequence that they swore lowered the volume of the cold start. Something with switching the valves open and closed a few times. Anyone have a link to that?

I'm stock and my neighbor has voiced her dislike of how loud my car is during cold start at 6:30AM even with the valves closed. They've got 2 acres to put a house on and they put their bedroom 30' from garage door, seems like poor planning to me.

A couple of my neighbors have a Harley. The louder the better on a cold start as I leave my garage in sport plus mode.

Excellent. Has this been confirmed by anyone else?

Seems simple enough.
