Can't say from experience how the rear will feel (heck, don't even have an M3/4 yet), but I'm personally going to stick to 30 profile tires. 25 look too thin to me, plus I'd be scared of making an already decently stiff riding car (stock) even more stiff.

25 is only the percentage of the width...my 335/25/22 sidewalls are much larger than a 275/30/20 for example

In general, to maintain similar height and to keep DCS happy, you can go up 3-4 (4 is closer) sizes and reduce the aspect ratio by a size to get equivalent (almost) rolling heights / diameter. Since its not possible to fit a 295/30 in front usually, I'd rather go up a size in front and 2 sizes in rear (my ideal setup, to each their own)

Height of 275/35/19 = 315/30/19
Height of 255/35/19 = 295/30/19

Or go up a size on wheel and drop one size aspect ratio

275/35/19 = 275/30/20

Obviously since it's a percentage they aren't 100% exact.. but it's very very close.

Is the 295/30/20 tire the same star marked one that comes with the M5?

I am not aware of any specific markings on the tire. I don't believe it's an oem supplier michelin specific though
