Hydraulic Handbrake with DCT
I have searched all the forum and still have not found anything related to this. I would like to install a hydraulic handbrake to my coming M4, however my M4 is DCT.
Has anyone installed a hydraulic handbrake with either a E92 M3 or F82 M4/M3 that has a DCT?? Can the DCT handle a hydraulic handbrake? |

I heard that installing a hydraulic handbrake on an M4 will cause the DCT to be delayed when the hydraulic handbrake is pulled. Would like to konw if anyone else is experiencing this?

Most folks here are not "drifters" and have no use for something like this.
As for what it would do to the DCT, the traction control system is very complex and locking up the rear tires momentarily will most likely cause it to freak out and cut power or engage the brakes to fix it. That might be what you are reading about. In addition, the braking system on the car is multi-channel so I am not sure you could even fit it to the car in the first place.

Thank you for the answer.. I have heard that it is possible to install, however it does cut the engine power when the Hydraulic E-brake is pulled. I just wonder if that would cause damage to the transmission.
