Which fuel in your M.
So what's everyone put in their beloved M car and do you notice any discernable difference when using lower grade fuels?
Are we all using V Power and Momentum or simple 95ron. |

Mostly V-Power. I just use what the engine is rated for if I can help it.

Only filled up twice, first time was BP Ultimate second was V-power. I plan to stick with V-power as that's what is recommended and there is a garage local to me
I didn't notice any difference between the two fuels whilst driving though. |

Stay away from supermarket fuel. No additives. Momentum excluded! Credentials for my comment are I'm a petrol tanker driver ! Stick with v power or BP ultimate and your engine will thankyou.

interesting. so the Tesco momentum 99ron stuff is ok.? as that all I ever put in. would you not recommend a cleaning or octane boosting additive every now and then to clear out any shite?

5500 miles on Vpower. ive never put anything else in it. plus my local garage is Shell which does help.
on the plus side i get about £30 in fuel vouchers every quarter from Shell. plus a cheap cup of coffee and a garage breakfast bap in the voucher pack as well! Mmmm.

I'll probably go for V Power when I get it.
Currently I fill up with BP Ultimate in my 335d at the mo and get Nector points (keeps the missus happy!). Does Shell do any incentives such as this?

every 250L of vpower gets you a £2.50 fuel voucher (2 points per L / 500points = £2.50), they send them out quarterly (for regular fuel its 500L for £2.50 1 point per L) they also send you an email when you fill up and offer 70 bonus points if you spend a further £60 on fuel in the next 10 days. if you work the system and fill up at the right time you do quite well out of it. im pretty sure the savings in fuel vouchers more than make up the extra cost of using regular unleaded not that ive done the math as i wouldnt use it anyway. https://www.shelldriversclub.co.uk

Yup, I use V Power all the time. As much out of convenience that it's Shell as our local garage is Shell and I have the Fill and Go App so it goes straight out of company bank account (and wife never has to worry about paying whichever car it is). We get Waitrose vouchers - usually get about £25-35 a quarter.

I prefer BP Ultimate for diesel and V power for petrol (based on past experience with petrol cars).

This isn't very scientific but I've noticed recently that my car gets appears to get better mpg on BP ultimate than V power, I usually fill up with V power but recently I've filled up with V Power on the way down to Essex on a Sunday and then filled up with BP on the way back.
I've been getting 3-4mpg more using BP Ultimate for what is the same journey, but I know there are many variables etc... 31mpg on the way down and 35-6mpg on the way back, I also did some sums vs. the M5 and I'm putting about £200 less per month into the M3 for the same miles. I'm actually really pleased as someone who does loads of miles that I no longer have to suffer too much for my addiction to fast cars.

As others have mentioned, there's a reason supermarket fuels so cheap, No additives except from momentum!

About 30-35k costs about £400 a month, but 24k of them are attributable to a return trip every week down south, if I was doing all my mileage as urban things would be very different.

Lol. No degree here. But I've worked on every fuel contract going. There's definitely a difference but like you said what do I know. All I do know is no tanker driver fills their car at supermarkets .
