2011-2012 difference?? 135i

Hey guys new too the forum and BMW world, with that said I'm sure the question has been asked already, just couldn't locate the thread. What is the difference in the years. Meaning, I've search for some parts, like a short ram intake and other parts, there offered for the 2011 edition 135i but not for the 2012, thought it was the same motor and everything else.

I believe it's only a software difference. Mechanically they are the same including the 2013.

For instance you can get a COBB tune for a 2011 but not for 2012-2013.

Some retailers never got around to updating the year listings. I've noticed it a few times as well.

DME version is different. Wonder what would be involved in rolling DME software from 2012 back to 2011. I know you can change around for N54 DME software, gotta be possible for N55 folks.

Performance parts/upgrades should be the same and both years are n55. Only real difference is minor cosmetic ones.

Cobb will work with early 2011 with the older dme. I have a 2012 f10 now and I have older dme and can use Cobb if I wanted. On that note Cobb for this platform now is useless just go jb4 for the n55 engine

I have a 2012 but its an early build and my cobb ap works. You likely need a software update.

I bought the cobb and it wouldn't work at first. I needed a new version of software so the ROM was updated.

I went to the dealer and one of the SA's hooked me up. The tech said to write that customer is complaining about bad AM radio reception, whatever that is haha.

After update no problem connecting.

I believe the mechanical parts are all the same for n55 (2011+). Very few differences between the 2011 and 2012 model years other than the software. Headlights & tail lights + wheels.
