ESS VT1-550 dyno time lapse install and WOT fun..
As some might know I installed an ESS 550 kit a few weeks ago. A few more might know I also installed a set of Rogue Engineering test pipes. I headed up to BR-Performance just outside Luxembourg City on Sunday to have the car dyno'd and see what she is putting down. I was hoping for atleast 580 bhp with the test pipes but the car put down 554bhp and 381lb ft of torque on a Dynostar dyno. I told the tech to only take it to 8000 RPM'S and I think he cut off a little early. Looking at the dyno chart the hp curve was still climbing strong and it made max power around 7600. If he took it to 8400 I think I would have gotten 40 hp more which is more in line with what I expected. Either way I am happy with the results.
Below is a little video I put together with my dyno run and some WOT pulls. Let me know what you think!

Why didnt you let them take it to redline? I thought that is the whole idea of dynoing a car Good looking M3 though! How do you compare the new power versus stock power? Must be a blast now!

New power is absolutely mind blowing. The car feels normal down low. Drives like stock and doesn't even feel supercharged but once you get to 3500 RPM's or so, it just pulls for days. Amazing feeling. I can only imagine how the 625 or 650 kit would feel. The 550 is a good balance of reliability, budget and power while the 625+ kits would be a little overkill IMHO (though fun I'm sure)

Correct. I choose not to buy into the rod bearing hysteria, and live by a "deal with it when (if) it happens" mantra. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me in the ass one day.

Great video. Debating on a s/c how is the 550 compared to the 625. The only thing I am worried about is rod bearings. Ate u considering replacing them?
