Anyone use Dash Command App?

Has anyone here messed around with this app? I bought the WiFi OBDII module and have used the app to read trouble codes for friends, but I haven't found a good "Dashboard" to use in the M5.

I've downloaded a few BMW dashboards, but none of them seem to work well with the F10 (understandable).

I think I could make a custom dashboard, but it would probably suck... so, has anyone done one and uploaded it? Or does anyone know of a good dashboard for the F10 M5?

I've used it but was on my Camaro ZL1. I personally switched to the iOS torque app. It did exactly what I needed and gave me the gauges I need. I used their PLX wireless dongle

Hmm, I don't see the Torque app in the Apple store. It just keeps showing me the OBD Fusion app. Is that the same thing?

Yup - they changed their name. That's the same app.

When you used the app were your torque and hp numbers right? I was testing it on my drive home and, at idle, it was saying 38ft-lbs of torque.

Under full throttle it never went over 250bhp either.

You'll need to adjust the limits. Press and Hold on the gauge and access the "Display Configuration" and edit the min and max range.

Yeah, I did all of that and set it all up. Made a couple new gauges too.

So, you did get the needle to show bhp over 500?

Correct, you need to set the max to maybe 600 or 650. You can also change the gauges to digital and make it easier to read.

Ok. I'll keep messing around with it. I have noticed that the refresh rate isn't too fast from the wifi dongle that I have.

It would be cool if it could show the highest achieved amount for the gauge.

Here is the dash that I have on the first screen.

I'm using the latest PLX Dongle from Palmer who makes dash command. Works well

As for the app, you know you can data log and set the parameters you want to log. Might help you see the data Better

Yeah, I just took a look at the map log. This is what makes me wonder. It shows my max hp as around 238bhp. That just doesn't seem right as I was full throttle at the time.

Cool, didn't know you can do a map log.

Definitely set the parameters on everything and try again. I've had this before with the other features and it was fixed by setting the ranges I needed.

Yeah, this is all a bit strange. I messaged them on Facebook and they said to adjust the “brake specific horsepower setting in the vehicle editor to match the specs for your vehicle”. When I look in the vehicle editor I only see the following:

Engine Size: 4.4
Volumetric Efficiency: 65
Brake Specific Fuel Consumption: 0.45
Fuel Calculation Method: Mass air flow rate

What values do you have for these inputs?

Same values - I checked my HP on the map and its 0-500 so there's got to be a way to change it. Ive never used the map, must be a new feature recently added.

Maybe create a custom PID

It isn't the map that is having the issues. that is just the display. The gauge itself is not reading properly. I did hear back from OBD Fusion support and they said that I need to adjust the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption value to match the specs of the M5.

The problem is, I have no idea what that value is supposed to be. I've increased it from 0.45 to 0.6 and will see what type of impact that has.

No issues here with the gauges. I've set the values 0-900 on mine

I'd say it's fairly accurate, all this does is read the OBD date. As for the HP/TQ numbers, I am not sure to be honest, I would assume not much different than the sport gauges.

I've been playing around with it since yesterday and think it is easier to use (to create custom dials) than Dash Command. However, I think Dash Command looked better if you could find a good Dashboard to download.

I think the gauges are pretty accurate, but there is a delay in the transmission of data from the dongle to the app.

Regarding the hp and torque, I am still trying to get that dialed in. I've been emailing the app team and the technical service manager at my dealership to try and figure out the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption value. I am pretty sure that once I get that sorted out the app will be pretty accurate.

Finally got my numbers dialed in, well, as best as I could. It looks like I was moving the BSFC in the wrong direction. Doh!

Awesome - Check out the PLX WIFI dongle and see if that eliminates some of that delay. I know the BTs have its issues. I do not notice any delay with mine.
