Mixing Audi and BMW Pirelli P Zero Tires?
I went to order P Zero tires (295/30/20 & 275/30/20) and tire rack said that they don't recommend mixing P Zeros meant for Audi with P Zeros meant for BMW. They said the construction and handling characteristics of the tire are slightly different. Is this anything I need to worry about. Recommendations please?

Because they are a sales organization that has their own interests one of which is mitigating risk even when the risk may be nominal or non existent. For example, a customer wanting to return used tires because they don't like them and they weren't told they were allocated for a certain car. What your saying is going against the whole premise on why you would have a forum to get feedback from actually users that have no motivation other then tell you their own experience.

To be honest this isn't true I am planning on ordering Mercedes 265/35/19 and BMW 295/35/19 for my M3.
The only problem here is the Audi front if you could choose another brand I think you would be better. Make sure it's being used as a front tire also.

I strongly agree with the Tire Rack sales rep.
The differences don't stop only at the compound of the rubber. Very often the ACTUAL size does not translate. An example, we received Audi spec tires by mistake, and when we mounted the 255's, they were much closer to a 235. Go with the tires they recommend you in order to avoid any unfortunate mishaps of the sort. |
