18" Wheels for track/drag
M3 coupe on KW coils, supercharged and I am not getting any traction with my 19's and 295 30... I was looking at Nitto's 555r or Mickey Thompsons, however I am having a hard time finding an 18 inch wheel that will fit...
I do want affordable wheels that I will only use on the track. I would appreciate suggestions... Thanks! |

If drag, try 17x10 with 275/40/17 and Hoosier or MT or M&H. BFG, Nitto, Toyo are more streetable drag radials. They work but are not as hard core. Stock is about a 26 inch diameter tire, so 275/40/17 works great. Drop pressure to 18 at the track. Experiment with no burnout, 1st gear, 2nd gear burnouts, and install line lock if needed to heat them up enough. I'd go light on wheels if you can afford them. Apex ARCI are great. You just need 2 for the rears. A cheaper alternative is to buy 2 stock 18 inch rear wheels and run 18 inch drag radials, but the stiffer sidewalls hamper the launch. I think there are 285/35/18 drag radials from some makers, but they may be slower than 275/40/17. Still way better than street tires or 19 inch street/drag compromise drag radials.
