Oil leak, need help badly. Its driving me nuts and Im on the verge of selling
Hey mates! So I've been hving trouble on my e87 because of oil leaks. I've been adding oil every 3000km because it rans out. Moving on I replaced my valve cover gasket, vacuum pump o ring, oil filler cap and gasket flange. So I blocked all the leaks with new orings and equipments and went on for a while having no trouble. After a few weeks the leak Problem resurfaced and it's coming out strong from the newly replaced gasket flange. Any thoughts why this keeps on hppening? I tightened the screws and put the gasket flange correctly but still it keeps on leaking. Thanks in advance part number of gasket flange is 11377502022. Vin number is jt43801. The leak is comi g from here check attached pics

blog (bottom of page) search E90 valve cover gasket (E90 very similar to yours) Maybe you'll see something there that you are missing or doing wrong Good Luck |

Did you check the valve cover for distortion?
Did you use Drei Bond 1209 or Permatex grey sealant in the corners where the gasket meets the head? eg both sides of the vac pump bridge? Always use only genuine gaskets and seals. Too much variation with aftermarket stuff that will quickly infuriate you. Also apply a small bead of sealant on the inside rubber seal of the eccentric shaft seal, and some sealant on the back side seal of the eccentric shaft seal. You dont need a lot. Just put a small blob on your pinky finger and smear it. Even for genuine seals, it's just a bit of extra insurance because the N46 can be a real pain to reseal successfully. Losing 1L of oil every 3000km is a lot when the thing only holds 4.25L. Is your PCV system good? Is yours the early or late N46? ie separate PCV or PCV integrated in the valve cover? cant tell from the pics |
