Only Luke warm heat at 84deg... Which hoses to flush heater core?
2010 128i. Bought this car used so first winter with it. I know the E82 heat is weird that it only blows hot when at 84deg. But even after an hour drive, it's only Luke warm at 84. Letting it run while parked helps and so does using recirculate.
From my research it seems this car doesn't have a heater control valve. So now I want to backflush the heater core. Anyone know which hoses are the inlet and outlet? Other suggestions? |

I would suspect a bad (stuck open)e-thermostat first. Have you checked for any stored codes?
I'll assume you already checked the coolant level right?

Coolant level is correct and I opened the bleeder screw for a few seconds just to make sure there was no air. E-thermostat? Where is it? Or maybe a part number. Off to research.

The E-thermostat is the thermostat. If it's stuck on, then that means my car probably doesn't reach temp as fast as it should if ever. Would this throw a check engine light? Or just stored codes?

You could check out what your temp range is.
http://e90.wikifoundry.com/page/BC+hidden+menus 7.00 KTMP-MOM is coolant temp, it'll range between 80°C (flooring it) to 110°C (hwy cruising)

Pull hoses off the heater core and flush with water and air. See if anything comes out-usually block casting sand gets stuck in them..sometimes it needs to be replaced.
