Have a chub - All parts arrive this week...
Finally,
What was supposed to take 2 weeks has taken 6 (just like every other attempt at modifying a car goes). But, mid next week I should have all parts sitting and ready to go on. Pure Stage 2 Turbos DSS axles DME Tune from DME Tuning RZ Autowerks Carbon intakes BMS charge pipes Already on the car JB4 Cat delete down pipes from N54 Tuning M Performance Exhaust Planning on running 94 octane + ethanol blends for most of the time. Something close to e25-e30. Anyways - getting excited to get this thing moving. Will be great to have a fast daily again...

Unfortunately everything is getting thrown on during the winter so it will be snow tires and a light foot for the next 3 months.
Come the spring, will fart around with offsets and see if I can squeeze 305 R888's in the back. The rare occasion the car is really pushed will be during 1/2 mile events where traction from a dig isn't as important as 1/4 mile. I am completely unaware of how it will perform at speed on a circuit so I can't answer that. I am fairly confident I won't be able to push it anywhere near the limit on a circuit as my personal ability will not be up to the task. |

It's a 6spd manual, not dct. Spoke with quite a few people and everyone seems convinced that the stock trans and clutch should be able to hold everything together without any issues. I have some concerns about the clutch but won't worry about it until it fries.

Good luck with the project. I predict 600 RWHP, no mercy for those rear tires.

Car is alive! Will try and get a few photos etc over the next week. A few issues cropped up but all were solved.
1 - axles from DSS used a clip that was too big to hold the outer boot on. The clip was contacting a knuckle just above the boot and ended up pushing the clip into the boot and blasting some axle grease all over the inside of the wheel. No permanent damage but a pain in the ass for sure. Such a small thing that is easily solved, just didn't think an issue like this would come up on a ~$1,000 set of axles. Ended up breaking the clip off and safety wiring the boot on. 2 - the RK Autowerkz intakes are a damn tight fit. The 45 degree silicone couplers are slightly larger in outer diameter than the plastic 45 degree ones from BMW. Little worried about rubbing so will need to keep an eye on it. 3 - the mounting flange on the BMS charge pipes was off by about 1/4". Again, a little surprising. Had to file the mounting hole and fart around but all is well. 4 - for the first time in memory it is actually snowing in Vancouver and there is way too much of it. Too cold for any decent dyno pulls that will accurately relate to real world driving and too shitty out to get any highway pulls done and log. So the car is running Map 0 and just cruising along with the back end DME flash for now. Later this week will get some logs done and make sure all is well. Then a trial few pulls on Map 2 and pump gas then Map 2 and about 10% ethanol plus 94 octane which will probably be my daily driving Map. Few weeks later and we will turn it up a bit, do a custom tune and see what happens with e30-ish. I'm trying to keep this a little reasonable and not immediately shoot for the stars like I have in the past. I am understandably concerned about crank hub issues... I guess now is the time to start trying to find a decent solution.... |

Awesome build man !
I agree about the BMS charge pipes...they are a little off on fitment for myself as well. I am running similar mods and after some fun track events and driving the hell out of the car I ended up toasting my clutch and sent my flywheel to Clutch Masters and they built me a very nice Flywheel / Clutch combo. I couldn't find any upgraded clutch kits so took the plunge and went with a 1 off kit |
