I've had about enough of this crap...
So.. about a month ago, I hit a piece of metal in the road... Apparently, it was bigger than I thought... Destroyed my rear tire, and I just found out today, it cracked my front wheel on the same side.
I'm trying to decide what to do.. get replacement stock wheels, or go custom. Anyone know what a new OEM wheel will cost me? Discount Tire can get me refurbs for $225/ ea. Just trying to make a decent decision before blowing a wad of cash.... Rear: Front:

I'd say wheel repair shop since they'll have to machine it down afterwards, as well as remove and remount the tire, balance, etc. They may require powdercoating as well to get the color back onto where they did the work. Years ago in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area it was $110 a wheel.
On the up side you could use that as an excuse to recoat all the wheels if you had curb rash and / or wanted a color change, and otherwise like the stock wheels. I would kinda think you could find used OEM wheels on Craigslist, ebay, etc. for a decent price, or the F/S section here. Probably where I'd start. |

I thought about that.. Though I was told that these wheels had a tendency to break around the welds after that. Kinda made me a little squeamish toward repairing them...
I was looking at the idea of some M3 wheels on it.. anyone ever try that?

I had an '04 Colorado ZQ8 and had the same problem.. Had it fixed and no further issues.. I was just told that the BMW OEM wheels are softer, and more prone to breakage, if you do that. Is that not the case?

Can you not make a claim to the city? Not sure about your location but this is commonly reimbursed here.
