2011 128i manual acceleration issue

Hello all,

I thought with the width and breadth of knowledge on this forum you lot may be able to help me diagnose an issue I started having a couple of days ago.

Basically whenever I go hard on the accelerator there's a hesitation, it almost feels like my rear wheels are spinning but the DTC light doesn't come on, there's no sound from the rear and it happens in every gear. The car shudders a bit as well when this happens. If I accelerate slowly, or probably what most would consider normally, it doesn't happen.

There are no warning lights at all and I just had a maintenance appointment at a BMW dealer in October, less than 1k km ago.

Any help and all opinions are appreciated!

Clutch slipping? That would trigger no DSC lights.

I thought this as well, but then it would only be during shifts wouldn't it? it'll do this pretty much anytime I put my foot to the floor

Nope....if it is toast you can slip it once the torque you apply exceeds the torque it can handle.

run it in 3rd at 3000 and floor it. If it is slipping it would shoot RPM up without normal acceleration.

If the clutch is slipping, the higher the gear, the worse it gets. Get on the highway, cruising in 6th, floor it. Does the RPM climb and not accelerate?

Also just noticed you bought your car at Import. Very random, that is two blocks from where I work.

I'll try this in a couple of days, my recollection from the weekend was that the RPMs didn't climb though

It's the clutch. Can't think of another cause for this behavior.

Peace
