So Close Yet so Far Away...

The car I ordered in June 07 was ready to be picked up this morning. My appointment was for 0900. However, I am still here in Iraq. I have been trying to get a flight out since Wednesday, but the damn sand storms have delayed me. So, rather than out driving her, I am stuck in a PAX terminal looking at the pics my wife sent. With any luck I will be driving her this Sunday or Monday. The pics are not so good as my wife said the showroom was confined, but when I finally make it home I will post better pics. Speaking of which, I am not sure how to even post pics, but will try the attachment button?
Anywho, from the pics she sent me I likey!

Stay safe. The car looks great and it will be there for you when you get there.

"So, rather than out driving her"

The car!? You've likely been away for a while

Nice car! You'll love it. Safe trip!

Thanks! Did all 3 pics turn out? The 2nd pic is not showing for me, not sure if I loaded it correctly.
Driving her? well, unfortunately I am talking about the car. My wife is 9 months along and is suppose to be induced on Tuesday, so another reason I REALLY need to get back.
On a side note, this 3 day sandstorm is crazy. Everything looks orange and the civilians here are running around wearing those lil white masks...kinda gives you the feeling there is a SARS outbreak here.

So did your wife drive the car home? If not, make sure she has all keys and has locked the car. My friggin' dealership was still allowing people to sit in my car even on the day I picked it up.

This sandstorm consumed 90% of Iraq and is now clear, only problem is it moved south to Kuwait, so I am still stuck since that is our gateway to civilization. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Wife did get the keys, but left it there for me to drive off the lot. She said she wants me to be the first to drive it, but I think the truth is she could not get in if she wanted to, and would be even harder to get out.

My wife told me they threw in floor mats, not sure if they are "M" and a car cover since they knew I will only be driving for 2 weeks before it goes into storage for my last 5 months here. I will have to do some searches for the best storage preperation. I see they mounted the "minigo" front plate adapter, can barely see it on the first pic, so guess they listened to my request about drilling holes in front bumper.

Get back soon. I sure could use a co-pilot at the ring when my wife doesn't want to join me.

Good point...it's kinda tight for someone who isn't 9 months pregnant.

Beautiful combo. I have Alpine White/Imola.
Get the Imola shift boot from LeatherZ.com.
It ties in the interior real well.

What size Minigo did you get?
The website says to measure, but I have not had a chance.
I wasnt sure if Z4 had same measurements as the M.

I would not mind being a co-pilot RussRamz, that is until my car gets the 1200 mile service, then you can be mine.. I know you have alot of mods and I would definately like to get together for an event when I get back, but not sure I will have time this trip. I should be back for good in SEP or OCT.

From the pics I love the color combo, cant wait to see it in person. I am not crazy about the shifter boot, but I already have the LeatherZ armrest bundle in Imola, which I will put in the car sometime in the next week or two. I am not sure the length, on the website it just listed for Z4, and apparently it fits, from what I see in the pic and my wife drove by and said they did put the plates on.

I am not sure why you would go with aluminum trim when you can have lethaa I was really hesitant on going Black, but Dammmittt, RussRamz and a few others swayed my decision based on your pics.

Is there instructions for this thing? How do you do the multi lil quotes and stuff

I dunno I don't really like the look of the carbon leather...looks like plastic. I think the aluminum looks younger and sportier...

Anyway...for multi quotes, click the " button, then click the Quote button on the last post you want to quote.

So, here I am sitting in KCIA (Kuwait City International Airport) sucking down some starbucks and surfing wireless. Should be home in the morning and waiting at the dealers door when he opens. Unless the wife decides she wants to have the baby instead. Hopefully she will be considerate and wait til the afternoon...j/k lol.

Finally made it home and picked up the car. All I can say is this car is awesome! When I had ordered the car, I had only been able to test drive a 3.0 (Euro spec) so this was my first M experience. Huge difference and I am so glad I made the right choice. It has been raining off and on today, but hopefully tomorrow will be nice and I will be able to get some pics. I have a few things to do like change out the antenna and install the LeatherZ bundle, which I am sure I will need to take it out for another test drive to see if it rides any different. Then I am sure I will need to run to the store for something atleast once tonight.
