Anybody know what happens to M School Cars?

What happens to the cars that the M Schools use after they are done with them?

They end up being sold as "gently" used cars at auction.

I don't know just speculating.

They give them away, if you ask them really nicely.

Of all the answers I am sure this will receive, I am positive that this one isn't true

No, they sell them.

They replace all the replaceable parts, and sell them. Often times folks from the factory purchase them.

They only give them away if you "Brake the break pedal". That's fact.

As another has said, they refurbish them and then sell them. The are sold as "executive" cars, meaning they have been used for marketing purposes by BMW.

This was a topic of several discussions at M school.

Speculate no more! I texted a friend who was an instructor at Performance Center West (Thermal) for a couple of years and now has a 9-5 job with BMW NA. He was still instructing at Thermal on weekends when needed, but I didn't confirm if he was currently doing that or not. I also asked him how long the cars last at M School. Here's his reply, cut and pasted:

Quote:
They're sent to the port and reconditioned and then sold at auction with a disclaimer that they were used as a driving school vehicle.

Usually every 10-12 months.
That's as close to the source as I have.

I wouldn't want one of those "reconditioned" cars that's Fo sure. The wifey and I beat the shit out of those cars at our 2 day Thermal M school.

I know from previous conversations with him that they get new brake pads and tires pretty frequently! I've seen cars pulled from the rotation during M School and M Experience events because the tires got corded.

EVERYBODY beats the shit out of them at the driving school.

Here in Oz they refurbish the brakes, tyres etc and sell them after 6 months use and DON'T specify that they were used at the school!

I'll be beating the shit out of whatever they give me for my 2 days school later this year. No way I would own one of those after the abuse they endure.

I bought one in the UK...a 2013 E92 M3 with 2800 miles...best car I ever owned, it absolutely flew.
Car was mint with new wheels, tyres, brake disks and pads.
It was cheap and came with a full warranty.
I traded it in after 18 months for $2500 less than I paid for it, having not spent a dime on it bar fuel.
