When Are Your DRLs On?
Reading some of the other threads regarding halos in DRL mode made me think about whether people leave DRLs on all the time, some of the time, or not at all.
Some have mentioned they think DRLs become the central focal point when on and take away from appreciating the car as a whole while others like the distinctive look DRLs create. Personally, I leave the DRLs off during the day, and turn them on during dusk and dawn, on foggy or cloudy days, and in canyons/winding roads, etc. Interested to see how others use their DRLs. I leave the headlight switch in A mode.
Here in Canada and other parts of the world DRL is auto on when the car powers up. I like it, if you have the halos why not use them ? |

I have mine set always On. It looks pretty cool with the DRL.

Why wouldn't you have them on all the time? DRLs are a safety feature, doesn't have anything to do with looks. And they're not really Daytime Running Lights if you turn them off during the day.
Do people really go into iDrive and turn them on or off just them just on a whim? "Hmmm, I think that I'll turn them on on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and turn them off on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Sunday, I could go either way."

Always on! that's one of the most things I love about ANY BMW, when I see one in the rear view mirror with DRLs on, it just looks wicked!

i hate daytime running lights. I'm so happy BMW at least gives you the ability to turn the stupid things off where other manufacturers don't. The premise behind them is so stupid. I mean a Toyota Highlander coming down the road is hard to see? Really?? If you can't see a 2.5 ton vehicle barreling down the road, maybe it's time to surrender your drivers license.

I'm not sure why you hate them so much. There is literally zero downside. They can be a very cool design feature as well, as seen with the M4 (GTR, Z06 etc...) What I wish is for BMW to start illuminating daytime running tail lights like they used to. I think they stopped around 2011. Again, it looks good and is an added safety bonus to keep the car lit up not just in the front but the rear as well. |

You can code it on along with front DRLs.
