Tall owners: do you miss the adjustable thigh support?
I noticed the M3's seats do not have the thigh extension feature like the M-sports seats (why)?
For long legged folks (I'm 6'4) do you have enough support under your hamstrings for long distance driving? |

"The M seats are probably kept simple to make them as light as possible, though that is just a guess on my part." http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=13 Quote:
I feel compelled to add this though: I don't adjust my seats in such a way that my legs even come into contact with the whole seat bottom to begin with. So thigh supports as a feature are lost on me. Even in my E46 and E93, I didn't use the thigh supports. Just to see what I might be missing, I've tried a number of times over the years to adjust the seat in such a way where my thighs come in contact with the entire length of the seat bottom, but it always feels forced or artificial. I suppose I simply prefer to have the freedom to move my legs around unencumbered by the resistance that having the bottom of the seat against them would cause. |

I am also 6' 4" and have wished the M4 had the optional pull out thigh support for long and medium length trips from time-to-time (not to mention ability to adjust seat bottom / thigh bolsters). It's not awful without, but IMO would be better with for street driving. Overall, the seats are what I like least about the car. That said, no intent to get rid of the car due to the seats - just wish they were a little more to my preferences.

I do miss the seats in my E92 M3, specifically being able to slide in and out the thigh supports. If there is anything about the new seats I dislike it would be the angle of the headrest, awkward with a helmet on, and the squeel of the lit up M badge.

I like the thigh adjusters in my M5 and Z4M coupe, but I can't say I have thought about or missed them much in the F80.

I'm 6'4" and even with the support my legs are too long and they don't support the thighs, so I don't miss it

6ft 2 here and never use them in any BMW, I find that they feel awkward, and come out too far towards your knees.
Not only that, cars with them always end up with them as dust, food, crumb collectors. |

I'm not tall (5' 9") but I have long legs for my torso, and I prefer to have the additional thigh support that I have in my Z4 M Roadster and my wife's 335is Coupe. It actually hasn't been a problem for me though, and I've had a few all-day driving stints, I just prefer the feel of that extended thigh support.

I get they have to make the cars as light as possible but, come on, 99.99% of people can't drive for shit on a track or never even go and when they do it's not to compete - it's not like a few hundred lbs helps them. For me, things like seats should be configurable options like on Porsche and AMG ... but the truth is, BMW probably focus-grouped it and found that people will ride in discomfort for their aspirations anyway, so the option didn't make sense. |

The M4 convertible seats are best. No annoying thigh-digger and the thigh extension is still there. Plenty sporty/comfortable as well. |

Moving from a 5er, I miss it....along with the ventilated seats. If I could choose, I'd rather the thigh support. I'm a big boy (6'4", 230lbs)....on the longer drives it would be nice.
Cheers,
