Do the spilt armrests come apart?

Just wondering if it's possible to disassemble the split center console. I was looking at mine the other day and the right light hit it to where I could see between the two pieces and saw a bunch of gunk in there. I think the previous owner must have spilled something in there at some point.

I'd like to see if the leather bits on top come off so I can clean under them?

If anyone has any experience with this, that would be great!
