Factory CD Player

Hello group, I am new here. I just bought a 2005 Z4 3.0i. I got to admit, so far I am impressed with the car. However, I tried playing a "burnt" cd that I created and it won't play. I read in the manual that some manufacturers have created this limitation for music copyright infridgement, blah blah blah..
Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Or am I doomed to buying CD's just to play 1 or 2 tracks at the time. Thanks
