E93 M-DCT M3 Production Delays?

For the past 3 weeks BMW has given me an estimated production of week 23 for my E93 with DCT. Now, today, they've pushed it back to week 25. Nothing else about the car should be causing delays (no 19", etc.); I can't understand.

Has anyone else with an order for a DCT-equipped E93 been pushed back? Just curious (and, well, frustrated).

DCT delays have been present for just about every car. Sedan DCT production just started. Coupes ordered with DCT had orders pushed back 1-2 months. There are supposed to be no more delays starting with June production but who knows. Hell, E93's right now come with the much coveted Euro seats and the much loathed chrome trim, neither of which were expected...

I originally was a week 20 start with DCT/19/coupe and then got pushed back to a week 22. Just got off the phone with bmw and mercifully, production has started for my vehicle. Needless to say, I am in a good mood.

I was originally week 28, but my CA called and said production opened up so I got moved to week 20 for a DCT coupe. I sometimes think the DCT delay is just bull because of how I got bumped up so far ahead.

Just confirmed this morning that I'm still sitting at week 25 (16 June) production. I complained again about the order tracking website, and got the runaround about them recycling production numbers and everything being mixed up.

The associate on the phone did tell me that the car would be assigned a VIN about a week before it goes into production, and that I should just wait and try the online tracking tool at that point since VINs are not recycled. So, at least I can stop phoning the 1-800 number every few days. I can wait a few weeks until the week of 9 June, at which time I should be assigned a VIN.

I picked my coupe up on Saturday afternoon, which has the DCT. The dealership said it was the first DCT/M3 in Michigan that they were aware of. I was originally scheduled for March production, but got it pushed back because of the DCT and 19"s.

Here are a few pics. I'll definitely be taking some better ones this weekend...

Sorry had to do it. If you look at a bunch of other threads, that is a reflection of sorts!

The convertible is showing up with chrome trim for some reason which is not popular here on the forums . It's supposed to be the dark Shadowline trim like the coupe and sedan have.

current folklore - production delays

i ordered a coupe two weeks ago. includes DCT an 19" wheels. the order has been accepted by AG, a production date has not been assigned, but is allegedly in the system with an estimated build week of 28 july. i pressed the dealer to specifically query about production delays or problems with DCT. word back is the DCT is not presently the long pole, it's the 19" wheels. in fact, he claims if i would revert to 18" wheels my production late would move forward 30 days to ~end of june.

whether any of this is based in fact is yet another matter. anybody getting a similar story?

You're getting the exact same dearth of info all the rest of us got when we placed our orders. Mine was ordered a month ago, and my production status hasn't changed. I'm waiting (impatiently) in line. Although I don't have a confirmed build date, I do have a production "week" -- week of 16 June. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that doesn't get pushed out. BMWNA says updates will be more frequent once the vehicle has been assigned a VIN -- and I'll actually be able to track it online. The online tool right now is a sick joke. VINs are assigned about a week or two before production begins.

I'm curious... When did you guys first get on the list (either in the form of putting your name down or a deposit) for your new or up & coming M3s? I put a $500 deposit with a dealership (same one I got my old E46 M3 from) about 4 yrs ago, long before any list even began taking shape. I got lucky because my salesman jumped ship to a new dealership about a year or so ago when lists were already building. Luckily the 1st dealership ended up honoring my early deposit and giving me one of the first cars.

Well, I certainly didn't put a deposit down four years ago. My dealer wouldn't have even accepted a deposit back then, and denied there was a waiting list until February of this year. So, I was the first name on the waiting list that started in February, and actually put down a deposit ($5000) the day I ordered the car. I was eventually bumped down several slots on the waiting list since I chose to wait for the M-DCT transmission to be available. So about ten other people jumped in front of me -- they wanted the 6-MT, which is all that's available right now.
