Cup holder trim coating sucks

I didn't realize until now our cup holders and the trims are like rubber coated. Passenger one has wifey's nail mark all over

Are the replacement pieces the same coated garbage?
Is anyone sanding the coating and painting it?
Would like to see what you guys have done.

The cup holder faces are replaceable, did mine right after purchase. You just gotta tell people to not act like animals when in your car. Simple push with the finger tip, and not clawing at it like someone buried alive in a casket.

Oh, and painting is not the best option. Regular rattle can paint will not match, and the peelable vinyl options such as plasti dip and auto dip are just as much if not more likely to peel, plus the cost and time doing that project ends up making it not worth it.

saw the replacement pieces were cheap enough. Just bought new ones
