Reckless Speeding - Loudoun County
The gf got a reckless speeding ticket over the weekend, 80 in a 55 on Route 28. I think she needs to get a lawyer. Anyone have any traffic lawyer recommendations or any other advice?

Man you will probably get a letter from a bunch of them. Either way just get one. I got a 'general reckless' back in 2006 (in Fairfax) and got a lawyer for $1500 who got it reduced to improper driving and a $100 fine.
Its a racket in VA but any lawyer should be able to help you out. |

Plus 2 on the lawyer being mandatory in this case.
Reckless puts a misdemeanor on your record. Seems silly, but has consequences for job prospects, etc. Penalty does not seem to fit the crime in this case...

I got a reckless ticket before near Richmond, VA and used a highly rated lawyer. He had a reasonable flat fixed fee he charges.
He was able to reduce it to a normal ticket. I also didn't even have to go to court as he went on behalf of. You can PM me if you want his info, he might do the NOVA area as well but not 100% sure. |

VA reckless or 20mph plus will put a misdemeanor on your criminal record if you plead guilty and pay ...
... which is absolute insanity

Probably the best state to be a traffic lawyer in. Curious to what others have paid for a traffic lawyer in VA and what was your outcome? |

My wife got a ticket last year in Leesburg on RT 15 going 60 on a 35 the cop
ran her driving record and saw that it was perfect. The Cop tells my wife because of her excellent driving record he's going to reduce it to 54 mph so she doesn't get a reckless charge. So I call a lawyer and asked if we can get it dismissed because it was her first violation. The Lawyer said nothing doing Loudon county doesn't play that way. You might get away with that in PWC but in Loudon not a chance. |

There’s a reason they won’t allow radar detectors in this state, or at least ones they can detect.

What's worse in this state, getting a first degree assault charge or reckless driving?...unbelievable

Got 82 in an 80 in JAN2017 coming back from the Inn at Little Washington. It's a cash cow and total garbage. Lawyer necessary and so long as you don't have a steady track record on infractions, you should be good. It is really a 1600 ticket and court fines all bundled into one. Charge dismissed and had to take an online traffic school which a four year old could pass.
Any county lawyer you Google should be able to get it reduced. Forgot who I used but it was definitely procedural and devoid of any Law and Order shit.

Also first thing I did in the F80 was set my speed indicator notification to 79. That thing won't shut up...
