huge maintenance done

so i replaced following... oil/filter, trans fluid, Diff fluid, Coolant, thermostat, water pump, both fan belts, vanos seal, valve cover gasket, tire rotation all in 8 hours total.

NOTE- when doing VANO/Water Pump. You might wanna get a big pry bar to push the engine back a little. there is NO way in hell they are coming out without a pry bar. the front bracket/brace is so close to the front of the engine, it does not want to come out at all. This is the hardest procedure of all.

my thermostat/water pump is still like new. I might sell or keep them.

@ 83,000 miles, I was so surprised how clean my engine was. no crud no build up of anykind. even Vanos seal wasn't that "loose" but car is running better than before

You were surpised? Didn't you run Seafoam through it a couple weeks back?

yes but I still would have imagined it would have oil stains(burnt on stain) from doing 15k oil changes during maintenance period.

still surprised by it

Dude, props for doing your own work. I'd have to agree thats a very clean looking top end I'm sure you've seen the threads of people doing the valve cover gaskets with huge sludge buildup.

yea I've seen some nasty sludge build ups. I am confident now, I can drive my car hard, without breaking down, for next 100k miles still

Are you using RedLine D4ATF for the tranny fluid?

thats what they have recommended on E46 fanatics but they are also using half D4 ATF(THIN) and MTL(THICK) but redline guy said we probably shouldn't be mixing the two as one is ATF and the other is Gear Oil. but who knows

D4 has worked fine for me, so I'll continue to use it.

So D4ATF for the tranny (which is for automatics btw), and using MTL for the rear diff?
Is 75w90 too heavy for the diff?

don't know about the auto tranny I have manual and it recommends An ATF for some reason. diff recommends 75-80 gear lube.
