High flow race cats
Hi all
Anyone have recommendations on what cats would work to add to an x-pipe - emissions are not relevant - 100-200 cell - mainly used to decrease the sound - able to withstand significant heat for frequent track time - i would add these to the bimmerworld x pipe. I dont want to spend 3K on a gintani x pipe. And i want the BW one because of the position of the X So, magnaflow? MBS? Fabspeed (way too expensive). Any other recommendations. I also assume stainless core is needed. Thanks guys in advance |

Vibrant I think is one of the best brand! I have 200 cell cats on my evolve X pipe and it sounds great and doesn't smell as bad as 100 cell! sound is very similar tho

I used to run Active Autowerke x pipe with 100 cell cats but they smelled a bit, 200 only smells faintly when cats are cold but then no smell at all and retains the nice rasp and louder sound. I did compare my x pipe to stock with test pipes and the x pipe sounds louder so maybe after all stock secondary are 300..

Stock is 400/200 from the many posts ive seen, but i have no proof.
And i think my final setup is going to be Rogue resonated test pipes with stock system + OEM 2 pipe mod (or stock OEM exhaust if it's too loud, which I still have). My other option of getting a resonated and catted x pipe or adding cats to a bimmerworld resonated x pipe is going to cost much more, be louder, and not offer much more in terms of power. So considering that my most important aspect in this modification is to increase power while staying under my home track's sound limits, as this is the main purpose of why I enjoy this car, this will likely be the way to go. Thanks guys |

That being said, i have learned that
1- many/most cats are cylindrical and if your car is lowered you may scrape 2- HJS and vibrant seem like good options 3- I don't know how good magnaflow, MBS, etc are in the setting of our cars + frequent track use 4- there seems to be a good option with these http://www.surefloexhaust.com.au/exh...istic_cats.htm at ~150$ each and all SS |

I want to take the bimmerworld race catback and weld some of those rally car cats that are basically just exhaust tips with catalyst material in them on the ends so they glow in the dark

OP, Vibrant has some cheapish cats that are metallic. Won't do much for emissions.
I'd weld the cats as far back as possible in the Xpipe to minimize how much heat they see I'm with you on the crossover position of the BW xpipe... |

Also look into the Kook Green Cats...very nice cats but they are also pricey at around $400 ea. Cheap cats metallic or not will not last.
