Question stripped Vortech supercharger oil dipstick

While trying to get oil dipstick out, I stripped it. Now I have a circular bolt instead of hex.

Any tips on how to get this sucker out? Location of dipstick is making it hard to get it out as well

Cut a straight line across the head and use a flat head screwdriver.

I had to so the same and ordered a new dip stick. It doesn't need to be cranked on too tight so you run into the same issue the next time.

That's not an option as the bolt is deep inside supercharger housing so I cannot cut a straight line without damaging the SC

How did you manage to get it out?

I loosen up the three bolts on the bracket that connects to the supercharger.

That gave me enough room to tap in a flat head screw driver. The brass is soft. You can use a screw extractor like this too:

I would try tapping a torx bit in. Found this old thread where someone had success doing it that way. After all that it's time for a screw style extractor.

screw extractor did not work with me. I will try with torx bit method. I don't understand why they have allen style bolt for a dipstick.

Well, then you'll be surprised when you try draining the engine oil.

You'll probably get PTSD when you see the price of the dipstick... I just purchased one for the same reason...

I need to replace my SC dipstick for the same reason. Does anyone know what the compressor tilt degree is for the superchargers on our cars? ESS625 kit with the Vortech V3 supercharger. Thanks!

There is a replacement available with a normal hex head, think you end up using a 8mm or 10mm socket to remove it. Its big in the Jeep world.

Thanks for sharing this. It certainly looks like a much better/stronger dipstick. Is there a specific Jeep model to select (I notice different part numbers for the dipstick). Just don't want to order the wrong one!

Might be best to contact them directly. I have not purchased one as I still run the oe vortech dipstick.
