Three-click toggle?

Ok, what's the 3 click toggle all about?

It’s the worst. Starting 2018, when you go into R it always shows rear view camera no matter if you last used Top View. You used to be able to just slap the iDrive button to immediately go into Top View camera but now you have to toggle left, then down, then push to do the same thing. To add insult to injury, if you go back into 1st then R again like when you parallel park it will always go into rear view camera so you have to the 3-click toggle each and every time you want to Top View. No one has figured how to code this out yet.

I curbed a wheel at 500 miles figuring this out the hard way while parallel parking the first time as I was really accustomed to just slapping the iDrive to go right into Top View.

Finally something that a Giants fan living in Philly and a New England fan can agree with . . . IT'S THE WORST.

Absolutely sucks! I didn’t use the rear view camera in my 2015 at all. Only the surround view. We need someone to figure out how to code this out!

Worst thing about the car IMO :P

Also, why can't rear view and top view just be shown at the same time like with other manufacturers?? It's not like the screen isn't wide enough...

This is one thing where the touchscreen comes in handy.

I agree totally. I've gotten used to using the back up camera at times and although I'd never admit it to BMW or perhaps the governmental agency that made them default to it I sometimes find it useful when backing out of spaces to know there isn't anything there. As much as the 3 click is annoying I've gotten used to it and can do it nice and quick now, but why the heck can't both views be displayed there? It seems like it would be such a simple fix.

Annoying. A. F.

When I moved from my F10 to the LCI F82, I was baffled why the iDrive did this. I have since become dumbfounded.

I called BMW Genius - they said it is a feature. They don’t know why it works that way. Some times I ask myself if BMW Genius know anything at all.

I wonder if BMW made that experience on purpose just to annoy the hell of everybody

The right side of the screen with the top view PDC could easily use top view video and still overlay PDC signals. It’s an unfortunate miss.

I've never spoken to one of them and I don't even think my dealer has one that I'm aware of but for some reason I I have the impression in my mind that they are just glorified college kids and likely I know more about the car than they do. Although again, I base this on no actual data. Just the idea of them being an omniscient BMW Genius any more than my long-time salesman is just doesn't make sense to me

From the 3 forced interaction, they know very little about the vehicle.

I picture them being fairly similar to Verizon store employees with their phone knowledge.
