Ess supercharge issue with valves exhaust

Yo guys!
I just installed a Ess supercharge system in my e92 m3, I am also tuning a ipe full f1 exhaust. The manual from the Ess says that these systems doesn't like the valves exhaust and could cause problems. Should I be worried? My mechanic says it is because the valves exhaust has less airflow when it is closed so if I leave it open it should be fine.

more free flowing exhaust the better.

ess isn't the only one. i've seen problems with vf kits not cooperating with valved exhausts.

With the valve closed there will be restriction and the hp will be down and torque will be up slightly. When you open the valve it's a free flowing system and the engine will now make peak hp. So in short just open the valves if you are going WOT and you won't have any issue.

Like others have said, with the valve closed the exhaust will not flow as much exhaust gas as it would with the exhaust valve open. I would think the valve is then enough that when it is open position, it is thin enough to not cause a measurable difference in exhaust flow. So with the valves open you should be OK. The problem with the valved exhausts is the the primary exhaust exit tail pipe is blocked off so the gas needs to flow "backwards" and out of the other tail pipe. This causes a lot of back pressure with is not good for an engine that is getting air forced into it via supercharger.

With that said I would think the recommendation from ESS is more for driving close to redline with the exhaust valve closed. Just look at the valve in your exhaust when it is open and you will see it is very thin and will not disrupt flow very much.

When I needed my valves MINI exhaust to stay open, we opened it up and unplugged it and it was always open. There was nothing to tell it to close. It would be pretty loud but if you don't mind, that is an option

We had one on the dyno with the ESS 625 kit and IPE full exhaust and power was down about 50hp. I would run a different x-pipe with a supercharger.

Some reason the link isnt working right but starts at 3:22

The IPE x pipe is not the best for supercharging. Plus it's not electronic valves
