Holy Crap! GAS TANK PUNCTURE!
So I was driving home late night from my work and suddenly I hear something hitting my car on the bottom and looked be I ran over some object on the highway. It wasn't anything crazy so I continue to drive about 1/2 miles and this gas smell started to follow me, and I initially thought it was from gas stations around me. Now I come to a stop at the stop light and gas smell gets worse but I was in front of gas stations so I continue to think it's the gas station.
Also I noticed my gas gauge went down to 2/5 from 3/5 and was wondering why gas is going down so fast. Suddenly tire came to my mind so I decided to check my pressure. So now I threw out my cigarratte butt before I get into a gas station. And when I went around to rear passenger side to check my pressure, I heard water dripping noise and saw puddle of liquid comming out under my car!!!!!!!!! Fuel was leaking I mean pouring out of gas tank!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like james bond movie. What if that cigarrate butt I threw out caught a fire! What if some sort of spark caught a fire right after I ran over something on a highway??? I just cannot believe how one car was designed to result in this kind of damage. I mean underbody of the car is perfect other than the puncture, so I didn't run over anything huge or crazy. And it looked to be that gas tank is just a simple plastic drum! I, my brother and tow truck guys were just stunned how this kind of thing could happen in a car as they were all saying that they have never saw anything this happen. You guys think it's my fault or BMW's? Again, nothing else is damaged under the car. Anyways, that was my story yesterday. Thank god i'm still alive writing this. |

It's going to be considered road damage and not covered under warranty. Not sure how much a new tank costs...I'd check realoem for the part # and then go to tischer for a price.

Your insurance will cover minus the deductible, there should be no premium increae becasue you are not at fault. It's like a rock hitting your windshield. They pay to replace the windshield but don't consider you to be at fault.
