Front license plate holder? (Got a ticket!)
Got a correctable ticket for having no front license plate on my 2015 M4. Looking for suggestions for a holder/mount?
Thanks! |

My opinion is to just pay it and keep the plate off, unless this becomes are pretty routine issue for you.
When I had my S5 I was parking on the street (no garage) and would get cited almost weekly so I finally threw the plate on. With the M4 I had a garage and after 2+ years of driving never got a ticket for missing the plate.

Go with a Sto N Sho. I went with this and its perfect to remove in seconds. It can be placed in the center of the bumper (unlike the tow hook optins) without putting holes in the front of your bumper.

I use Carbonio's license plate holder: https://carbonio.com/products/bmw-m-...se-plate-mount
It's no-drill and there is no chance it interfers with the parking sensor or headlights like the US Millworks one. Mine withstood being hit by a tumbleweed while going at highway speeds. |

+1 for US Millworks. I've been using them on several cars and haven't had any sensor issues. I use the flip method they suggest for BMWs with sensors.

thanks for the suggestions - some good options - Chris, I went 3 years without a ticket but my university just went to a virtual parking permit system based on license plates, so they are now constantly scanning license plates to see if you registered to park - and will also constantly know whether I have a front plate... sadly....

I keep the plate in the trunk, if I ever get pulled over My plan is to say "sorry car washing guys must've forgotten to put it back on". Lol if that works. The product is great. I'll post pictures of my car tomorrow. |

So serious question for everyone. I'm a fan of not having holes in my bumper but I live in MA which requires both plates. I think the most aesthetically pleasing position for the front plate is centered if it needs to be there vs offset in the tow hook spot. So I come to view that if I need a front plate and center is preferred for me why is it an issue if it's permanently mounted on the bumper? Only way to see holes is to remove the plate- which I never do. I plan to own the car for awhile and any new owner would need the plate if in state as well. I just don't see the big deal. Donning flame suit...

front plates ruin the look of the car. Most owners don’t want to further ruin the look of the nice F8x front bumper by drilling into it. Some ppl also apply ppf and expensive detailing treatment to their car. Those folks also buy expensive wheels/mods/suspension. There is a certain level of OCD that follows..

I would pay it and go on about your life. No front plate rocks, clean look. Think of the ticket as annual fee for the privilege of no front plate =-) |

Stanford University - campus police, but a Santa Clara ticket - we've unfortunately just gone to virtual parking permits linked to license number, so that front plate issue is going to recur....

Here are pictures from my recent setup. I think it's great. Double sided tape plus 1 screw on the under side. Some people think they don't need screw but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to fall on the freeway.

+1 but no screw. I just moved it from my 2015 to my 2019 and it was tough to pull off with just the tape.
