Rattle after Active Autowerke Midpipe Installed?

After I installed my AA midpipe, there is a rattle at about low RPM and during startup.

Anyone know if this is normal? It is super annoying.

From other posts, you’ll need to possibly add washers under the support brace to give additional clearance

Did you install washers on the middle exhaust brace bolts? If not, the midpipe is likely rubbing against the brace.

Hmm.. I'm not sure actually. I will have to ask the shop that installed it.

Where can I buy the washer if it is missing?

They don't come with the AA midpipe, or any aftermarket exhaust option.

Ace, Home Depot, Lowes, or any local hardware shop will have them. Just good old flat washers will do; 2-3 washers per bolt, so roughly 12 total.

Spacers go on chassis side to give more clearance for the brace. NOT under the bolt head (just in case you weren’t aware)

If you don’t know where to buy washers, you might want to reconsider modifying your car.

Wtf is your problem?

I thought it was specific washers that AA included with the midpipe.

The mid pipe can be installed without having to space the brace (although that is a common solution as well). During install, before tightening the ball clamps, we recommend using a small piece of wood or cardboard to space the midpipe between the brace. You can then tighten the ball clamps and remove the spacer. This will allow adequate space between the mid pipe and the brace when everything has been tightened down.

They're not specific to the AA midpipe. They are just normal Stainless steel washers that you can get at a hardware store. IIRC, I used 3, 5/8" washers per bolt.

I had this same issue. Add some washers to add clearance to the cross section. Fixed the issue.
