2017 BMW M4 noob

How's it going guys, new to the tune/mod world for the M4. What's y'all guys recommendation on best overall tunes/mods for a beginner to maximize the performance of the car? I know some tunes void the warranty or if there are some that you can get by with will also be helpful!

all ecu tunes will void your warranty if you blow your shit. Lots of people been running tunes on their cars for years now. Honestly I dont even remember I have a tune; just wanted refinement. can you handle the car stock; before adding more power? I only got the comp pack tune from Alpine/alex....it just drives better than stock; i tried higher maps but I dont see the need for more power; unless you can already drive at 100%

Why not invest in a High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) and learn how to really drive your car before dumping a bunch of money on mods that make no real difference on the street?

BMW CCA does HPDEs at Circuit of the Americas, if I lived as close as you, I'd be all over that.

TBH, i;d rather done a HPDE course vs tunning. Some balls can go along way in this car...i just don;t have the time.

If you plan on keeping the car stock, get the Burger Tuning stage 1
If you want to push the car and will add mods in the future , get the Jb4
You can remove them before the dealership visit.

I think the best mod/recommendation for any beginner is to attend the M Performance school. I've been telling myself to go for the longest time. I need to "learn" how to control this beast the way it was meant to be driven.

This is an excellent idea! My wife and I have both attended the 1-day M School and the 2-Day M School. One of the main advantages of an M Performance School (1-day or 2-day) is that it's BMW's cars, gas, tires, and brakes! Run the cars as hard as you are able and your car is not affected. You get classroom instruction and in-car instruction via two-way radio. M School sessions include autocross, skidpad, and track time.

A BMW CCA HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) is considerably cheaper, except that you'll be using your car, gas, tires, and brakes. My wife and I have done many HPDEs. Even if you get track day insurance from Lockton, a 2-day HPDE is less than 1/3 the cost of the 2-day M School. Risk to your car is extremely low. More classroom instruction than an M School, but you'll also have an experienced, certified instructor sitting next to you to coach you while on track. With no experience, you'll start in D Class, with other people that have little or no track experience. As you attend future HPDEs, if you have the skill, you'll progress through C, B, and eventually to A Class or A+ Class, running with the best drivers and fastest cars. HPDEs are 100% track time, no skidpad or autocross.

I went to one day BMW M PERFORMANCE class in Thermal. It's worth it. I'd do that first honestly. Enjoy your M, second. Third, do the tune.

I just found out that they had Groupons for the M performance schools. Who would have known? Add another 6% with ebates, and that's not too bad.

I'd rather make mistakes on BMW's cars than my own.
