Should I upgrade downpipes to improve sound for M4 with competition pkg?
I got my F82 a week ago and I start to consider add more fun to it.
I saw lots of people here upgrade their downpipe to make it louder and sound better. So I ordered VRSF downpipes. But I notice that my car has competition package, it has competition exhaust. So I am confused about it. Does downpipe will improve the sound of F82 which has the competition package? (I suppose that F82 with competition pkg sounds better than F82 without competition pkg initially. Is this correct?) So is that worth to upgrade downpipe for F82 with competition pkg? If so, can I only upgrade downpipes, no other upgrade? |

Putting a downpipe will increase the volume of exhaust noise by maybe 20-30%.
It still remains your stock competition exhaust sound but you can hear more burbles and pops. You will need a tune to eliminate Check Engine Light because your car is missing primary cats after put on aftermarket catless downpipe. "So is that worth to upgrade downpipe for F82 with competition pkg?" It depends on your purpose. Putting a catless downpipe will allow the car to gain more Hp/Tq from aftermarket tune. If you like the sound of stock competition exhaust, increased noise from dp is not bad. "If so, can I only upgrade downpipes, no other upgrade?" You have to get a tune or otherwise you get CEL light on dash.

i dont think a catless downpipe will improve sound but it will defenitely make it louder.

What is tune? Is it ECU Tune? How about price of tune? Where I can buy it? My VSRF DPs is on the way, I didn't order tune. |

There're mainly two types of tune: piggyback or ECU Flash tune.
Try to google something like "piggyback tune M4", "ECU tune M4" if you want to know the differences. It was answered million times in forum. Price is different from brand to brand and types which starts from few hundreds to thousands. Just bare in mind, any powertrain related tunes/ aftermarket hardwares can risk in denial of warranty claims.

Improve is subject to personal opinion.
What downpipes do is amplify the exhaust volume + tone If you like how zcp sounds now, downpipes are going to make the exhaust louder, deeper, and raspier. If you want a mild improvement to sound wild reducing rasp, then you probably want just a mid pipe. Specifically Active Mid Pipe |

JOLLY23, I have the VRSF DP & Intake and sounds much better. However, I'm thinking about changing AA Mid pipe or Fabspeed (probably go with this option since no cutting is required)....I'm really curious how this combo will sound since I can't seem to find any video of this clip..
