Unhappy Gearbox grinding saga/woes. Help?

Hi All

I have a 15 plate F10 M5. Purchased approved used from my local BMW main dealer in July. Starting in September I became aware of a grinding/vibration on gear change around town speed (20/30mph). It's almost like it hesitates. The vibration can be felt in both driver and passenger footwells and heard by both front passengers. It doesn't appear to happen at motorway speeds (or at least I can't hear/feel it). It has also (although less frequently) felt like I'm being rear-ended when coming to a halt.

So far it's had a gearbox service done, software update done on the car, and various bits of trim/undertray adjusted.

Has anyone got any experience of this in their F10 and what I should be doing next? It's under warranty also.

Thanks

Thomas

22k. It's been inspected several times by the same dealer. Is there anything in particular about the propshaft which I could get looked at?

Only saying that as a hunch from when I owned a classic sports car, when the prop shaft bearing was failing it had similar noises and vibrations to what yours is going through, nothing was wrong with the gearbox.

Potentially Catastrophic Failure

G’day
Get someone to record the noise for you whilst driving (ie via any recording device) and take that back to your BMW Service Advisor.

I have never heard of any DCT Gearbox making a grinding noise like you describe ; and it sounds like something else (directly mechanical) .

If it’s a prop shaft bearing etc you need to get it looked at sooner then later as a failiure their would be catastrophic (and extremely dangerous).

I would not drive it around in any high speed situation until it’s resolved .

Cheers
Bruce

Cheers Bruce. Will try and get the noise recorded at the weekend. It's very weird that it only happens on gear changes. Any other thoughts or comments appreciated!
