Weistec W.3 Turbo Upgrade for S55

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Weistec Engineering W.3 Turbo upgrade for S55 M3 / M4 Models

Here at Weistec Engineering we are continuing to develop and expand our product line into the BMW market. One of our more popular products for those seeking more power from their vehicles has been the S55 W.3 Turbo Upgrade. This system uses the stock turbo core and replaces the impeller and seals, uses a high RPM balancing, and machines the compressor cover and center cartridge to fit the new, more powerful, internals. This 100% bolt on installation includes all the necessary hardware and gaskets, and leaves your vehicle with a discreet stock appearance, but large gains.

With these upgrades we were able to increase power figures by 180 horsepower and 169 ft/lbs of torque** at the wheels with 93 octane on a Mustang Dyno using our W.3 Turbo upgrades, water-methanol injection, a downpipe, and tune to make the best use of these high performance upgrades. The setup provides great gains throughout the RPM range. This upgrade is a great option for those looking for significant power increases, but not the more heavy investment that a full replacement turbo system would require.

**Power gains are different per vehicle due to parts installed, engine health, mileage, etc.

About Us:
We at Weistec are focused on maximizing the potential for every platform we touch and specialize in new engine performance products and tuning. Getting our start in AMG and quickly working our way to the top with innovative, proven products we are now turning our eye to the excellence that is BMW. We are actively developing products for the F8x and F1x M Platforms such as our S55 ECU Flashes, S63tu ECU Flashes, and our S63 W.4 Turbo Kits (which were also featured on Bimmerpost.com) with even more products planned for release in the future.

Maybe you mentioned this somewhere but is that price on your site all-in? As in we don't need to send in our cores?

It does require a core to be sent in. Generally it is a 3-4 day turn around for the process of upgrading them to the W.3 system. An ECU tune would also be required to make use of the upgraded parts. We offer ECU tuning for this system also, either via sending in the ECU or using the Cypher handheld tuning device.

The upgrade is compatible without a downpipe, and would just offer less of a performance gain.

ok, so I'd really like to know a bit more on who Weistec is. How long have you been doing this? Are the turbos made in house? It looks like you are in Anaheim, can we see the procedure for upgrading the turbos there?

How do they compare power wise / size wise with the other options. These look to be about the same size as Stage II or VTT turbos? Is that a fair assesment?

Also do you change both the compressor and turbine wheel?

Any backpressure measurements with the 21psi run?

Dyno for power

in comparison, Pure puts up to 785 WHP

This option is for customer not going for this kind of power but a nice upgrade over stock without putting a lot of pressure on the stock component

Can the stock internals handle 21 psi? that's a lot of boost considering stock is less than 18-19psi from what I recall

Edit: fixed a typo

I think those dyno numbers are on 93 octane and not 91. On Fall-Line Motorsports Instagram, someone noted it was 93octane...

What if only turbo upgrade and other than that everything else is stays oem, what would be the power increase. Stock ecu stock exhaust and pump gas.
