Any better after-market dead pedals?
Does anybody else find the location of the 'dead pedal' way too far to the left to be comfortable?
On left-hand-drive DCT cars, there is a huge gap between the dead pedal and the brake pedal. When sitting naturally, I feel like my right leg is pretty much straight ahead when on the throttle, but my left foot is off at 11 o'clock. I like the ability to brace myself under heavy braking, but wish my left leg was straighter. If anything, *both* legs feel off the the left when braking hard. Does anybody know of an aftermarket solution? Is there an easy-to-install footrest that I can place between the brake and the existing dead pedal? (e.g. I can imagine making something that attached to the existing dead pedal in the same way as the M performance trim, but twice as wide) (when I drove RHD manual transmission M3s in the UK - for 20 years - I didn't care about this since my left foot was being used for the clutch pedal!) Been noticing this recently too, reaching for the dead pedal is causing pain in my left leg. Seems like BMW set up DCT pedal position like they were manual, design flaw...

Looks like there is a large trim piece that covers both front footwells and has the structural support for the dead pedal built into it. Then there is a plastic 'footrest' part (51477302876) that clips over the top.
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8546 I'm wondering whether it might be relatively straightforward to make a part that attaches to the bulkhead in the same way that the 6MT clutch pedal would and rests on the floor (there must be some sort of pivot but I can't tell from this diagram whether it's part of the brake pedal assy) ? https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=35_0412 The service instructions don't really help either: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nkage/GtWrgtL6 |
