The Shock absorber Problem
Hello everyone,
a year ago, I installed Bilstein B6 EDC Shocks Package-4 pieces. Yesterday I only drove 20 feet and it showed. I think the shock absorber is very hard when driving. When scanning with Carly, there is a problem with the right front shock absorber. The EDC button indicator does not work. Check the link line on the front ok. What's the question? How do I know where the problem is? |

Based on my experience chasing this issue with OEM shocks and eventually swapping for B6, yes you're correct. Also, Bilstein is supposed to have lifetime warranty.

Try disconnecting the EDC connector (top of shock tower) for your front right only. This should make the ECU go into open loop, and you should see a change in the error message. If it's still stuck on the same error message (despite having no connection now at the Front right shock), then the fault may lie with your EDC controller. P.S. BTW, did your ride height change with the B6 EDC shocks (vs. stock)? Want to get some first hand feedback from those that have done it. Thx. Last edited by kimiraikkonen; 07-23-2020 at 04:04 AM.. |

https://www.m5board.com/threads/edc-...ebuild.125045/ See this relevant comment: The dampers are just the recipient for signals. As Reg said, if the solenoid valves circuits for one or both pairs on each leg fail, limited operation will result with default to harder damping control planes. So assuming your electrical connections are good on the Front right shock, then perhaps you have an electrical short in the shock body, hence the default to Sport. |

The Shock absorber Problem
Use BMW software to scan the code and get 5FE7 EDC. Check that there is no problem with all link lines. Check the results with a general instrument: Shock-Ohms1.2 at the left rear, Shock-Ohms at the right rear: 3.7, Shock-Ohms at the left front: 3.9, and 3.8 at the front right-Ohms.
Inspection result: The electrical contacts of the left rear shock absorber may be short-circuited. |

After more than two months of waiting, I finally received the Bilstein B6 shock absorber with a lifetime warranty on Friday, which was processed by the seller ECS Tuning. Lock into sport mode and drive a stiff car for more than two months. Today, I replaced it with a new shock absorber and solved the shock absorber problem in the trial run!
