Project Kics Lug Nuts - Durability?
My current lug nuts are getting pretty worn down from normal use. Are the Project Kics Ironix lugs more durable than the competition?
Any other recommendations are welcome!

I’ve had a set of them on a different car and I wouldn’t use an impact to burp them off. They’re chromoly steel which means durable and the rotating conical seat is nice to get even torque and no marring the wheels. But the finish will get damaged by impact guns. If you’re just going for black extended lugs in chromoly you can’t go wrong with the Motorsport hardware ones for a fraction of the price, downside is no rotating seat. Studs and lug nuts are a wear and tear item for me — once every two years.

I've been using the same set of Project Kics R40 for many years now. They have held up great. The 2 piece design is awesome for protecting your wheels. The set also comes with the wheel lock included.
Important — whether you have bolts, nuts or extended nuts, you should only use the impact gun on a low torque setting. Always break the nuts manually before using an impact gun. And all final fastening of nuts/bolts should be done manually with a torque wrench. I'm looking for another option to replace my Project Kics soon. I'll be going with the same set since there is nothing better at the moment. I've used Motorsport Hardware extended tuner nuts. Will never use them again. Their extended wheel lock sheared off with with my breaker bar while breaking them loose one day; they were torqued to 90lb/ft. I still use Motorsport hardware studs though. Their regular nuts are probably just fine as well. I've also used MRG titanium stud kit and Macht Schnell stud kit. |
