M3, C63 or used M6??

Hi guys, back with another question!

I am going to be getting a new car here pretty quick as I sold my E90 to a buddy for a good deal. I am now looking at a 2008 e92 M3 AW with CF roof, loaded and 6 MT. I am also looking at a Black on Black 2009 C63 AMG coming in this week loaded with everything except the AMG performance package (overkill really). To top it off there is a beautiful loaded black 2006 M6 at my dealer that I could snatch up. No flaming the C63, the merc is a beautiful car so keep it clean guys!

What do you guys think?

p.s. I don't track my cars (maybe in the future but with winter coming it is not going to happen!)

all 3 totally different cars. What are your needs from the car? 2 door vs 4 dr? Tracking? warranty instead of paying for service (c63). Look at your needs and decide.

I am young so 4 doors aren't a big deal but that car can outperform a lot of 2 doors and that is why it is in the mix. The C63 is 5K cheaper so that will cover the warranty issues. Still leaves me in the same spot.

C63 is fine if you drive in a straight line. Has no LSD, the ESP comes on all the time, its like looking at a indicator light flashing all the time, does not handle well, does not like rough roads and rattles & shacks itself to death.

I have both M3 & AMG and the M3 gets twice the distance out of a tank of fuel. If you don't have any corners in your suburb buy it and don't turn the ESP button off because you will need a new set of tyres with every tank of fuel and it has auto gearbox with paddles. If you want a AMG get a CLK Black series if your serious they have a proper suspension and fully adjustable.

Now that was'nt to bad was it?

have you driven them all?
personally i love the power of the c63 but its really a hard toss between that and the m3sedan. on everyday driving, i think the only thing that the c63 has over the m3 is its seats and the raw power + sound. on the flipside, the ride and the user interface in the m3 is better imo..

now if we are talking about track time, you already know the answer..

id go new m3.. well obviously because we all, or most of us, have m3s on this forum. you will get different answers on a benz forum though.

4-door is lame and it drives like a pig. i like the shifting speed and control on the m3. m6 is in a different league than these two.

Stick to the E92 M3. If you like the bulky look of the M6 go with that. As for the C63...I used to have a CLK430 and i know that is nooooo comparison than any of the cars you have mentioned but after getting my E90 M3....I'm never lookin back at another Merc...nothing handles like a BMW. Plus in my opinion...Merc's tend to look old fast rather than BMW's...look at the old C55...and the old 3 series...NUFF SAID.

It should read ESP not EFI, getting a little confused between DCS, DTC, DCE................

I am going to forget which car I am in one day and push the wrong button and my wife is going to get eject through the sunroof.

Let's hope nothing will cost you over 5k then lol. The major inspections alone are 1k+. Don't know about merc, but bmw inspection 1 and 2 are like a grand each.

Merc's 4 door + auto tranny + worse fuel comsuption than the m3 + no real warranty + no LSD really doesn't justify the better seats + sound + a little more power IMO. ALL that RAW power and still gets spanked around a track? COME ON

Just get the ///m. After all you know what AMG stand for right? AMG = always making garbage

one suggestion- go drive one.not trying to knock the m3, both are great cars but you'll have more fun in the c63 under 4k rpms then you ever did in your m3...

The C63 bashing surprises me. Have you guys actually driven one? I have and it is a VERY nice ride. It is absolutely nothing like past AMG C's. It's very comfortable and feels much more powerful than the ///M3. The deal breaker for me was the lack of a proper manual trans and the lack of road feel. The C63 handles good, just not up to the level of the ///M.

+1. I know this is a BMW forum and I personally like BMW better myself. But you have to admit the C63 is a great car. You guys really need to drive it before you bash it. I personally don't like 4 doors, so right there it narrows down to M3 or M6, I also like a manual transmission. It might not be as fast but nothing more fun than having a clutch. The C63 seats look really nice, but even for me they are small and I'm far from fat. Now between the M3 and M6 it's hard to say. I haven't driven the M6, but from what I read it seems to be more of a highway car or around town. If you like to get on some twisty back roads the M3 is the one you want. The M3 is so much fun to take through a turn. You really need to drive all three and see what feels best. All are good cars.

way i see it is not comparing apples to oranges..
there all beautiful cars, high performance and a thrill to drive in one way or another... its a tough one..

my thoughts..

m3 - most nimble of the group, the most "fun"/precise in its driving abilities, looking for ur personal race car when you get in the mood this is ur pick..
also looks the most dis-similar (is that a word, its too early) to its tamed engine model (widebody!) bmw fans dream in my opinion..

m6 - v-10! in a lot heavier of a car, gas guzzler.. BMW took an AWESOME engine and threw it in a hefty 6 series, which is more luxorious if thats what your lookin for.. and used you wont loose as much value driving it as a new car.. dont forget its the fastest of the group tho.. yea and its fast!

c63 - i am a 6mt guy so this car dosent do it for me.. but Merc has done a nice job with the car and the speedshift transmission... and its a torque monster.. looks too much like the normal C's..
the c63 has a totally different look and drive feel than the BMW's..

some bmw-merc
bmw ultimate service
nothing matches BMW driver-car connection
MERC paint is 10x Better, sorry BMW but its true (compare 2 black cars)

hope this may help, and makes sense.
