Do I go winter tyres or PS4S
Hey All,
I have a dilemma. Currently the car has the Cup 2 tyres on. I am leaving in the UK though with a lot of rainy days and 0 - 10 degrees Cent. I am also thinking of taking the odd European winter trip (i.e. minus). So, question is: 1. Do I buy a set of PS4S or 2. Buy winter tyres and change to Cup 2s for summer? Are there any solid winter tyres geared toward wet surfaces rather than snow? Views? Cheers, Socrates |

As long as you’re not dealing with ice and/or deep snow then you’d want a set of winter performance tires, not winter snow/ice tires. The performance of the PS4S will continue to degrade as you go from 10 C to 0 C, or below, due to the soft summer performance tread compound. Basically, you lose grip as the temp gets colder and colder. Save your PSC2 for the spring, summer and fall months.

I just bought used 437m wheels and plan to mount Vredestein Wintrac Pro 255/35R19 and 275/35R19. Supposedly better rated than aplin PA4. Either option are good winter performance tires with high speed ratings.

PS4S and CUP 2s will encounter the same issue with cold weather since both of these are summer tires.
You'll need something like AS3+ if you want to mix cold and warm weather.
