Silicone wiper blades - should i beleive the hype
Anyone used silicone wipers and are they really so much better than rubber ones or is it all a load of lies, lies, lies?! Apparently they won't ware out within a year and if they do, they’ll send out a replacement.

I guess since you are in the UK you don't get free wipers from the dealer. In my experience no blade is ever better than the OEM one.

Piaa are the only wipers you should consider than oem. DO NOt get any other wipers since you will damage the wiper motors which will not be covered by warranty. I am talking from experience with "Durablades" on a toyota.

Yes, they are that much better. I had PIAA blades on my STi and it they were excellent. I would also consider picking up some Aquapel from PPG. Application takes about 10 minutes and it will last 6 months or so.

I've used the PIAA blades and while they are good they don't last very long. I switched to Bosch Icons after that and give the same or better performance while lasting a lot longer. After about 4-6 months, the PIAA start to chatter and streak. Not so for the Bosch.

I have used PIAA wipers before and loved them.. I had no issues with them ever, but the longest I saw a pair on the car for was about a year and a half. I really want some for my M3. Its amazing how much they help water beed off the windshield, that layer of silicone really does something.

I used them on a different car. I'm still on OEM for the M3 since I'm still getting free replacements.

If you see his location, he's in S. Korea. Although here in the forums we continuosly complain about this or that option not available in the US, we really have the best deal of all because the price of our cars is really good compare to most (all?) other markets.

I've used the silicon blades for a while now and I like them quite a bit. Nothing groundbreaking but they last a lot longer than rubber ones.

I've used PIAA blades on pretty much every vehicle I've driven since they came out about 7 years ago. 1 Set lasted me about 4 years. The other cars I didn't have long enough to make a comparison. Something that does help silicone blades to last longer is to use RainX or Aquapel.

OEM provides the best smooth sweep. I've tried aftermarket blades on all my other cars, but I always come back to OEM. BMW OEM blades are great.

My New York dealer told me I am allowed one set of wipers per year (3 year lease), so I am dissatisfied after 9 months with the driver's side wiper and I bought a Bosch ICON -- works great.

The do make a Bosch Icon blade that fits the m3. Installed them a few months. back. Part# 3397007072 at Autozone. It has to be ordered most likely but they can get it.

I put a set of PIAA blades on my desert truck and they are still good. They are about eight years old now.
