Tire Suggestions...on E85 Now.

I just went with the Jordan Tune full E85. As I am trying to datalog (3rd gear 2.5k to 7k traction control fully off) I am finding my car pulling to the side at about 5k rpms...which is scary as hell. I had to abort mission right away. My heart was racing lol it felt like I was going to spin out. I am scared to continue logging as I am afraid of losing control and crashing.

I am on stock wheels, and tires (275/35/19 Michelin pilot super sport).

What are some tire suggestions to be able to grip and daily drive? I don't track. I drive my M4 on the weekends. I'm not out there flooring it all the time but would like to have the peace of mind if I ever do and the car wont spin out of control on me. Occasionally I go to the canyons as well but nothing crazy on the turns.

I was recommended Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. What other great options are out there?

Or if there pilot super sports are good, what are some suggestions in gripping? Do I have to be on MDM at all times no matter what?

TIA.

R888R or RE71R are great if youre just doing straight line or high way pulls

Those 2 are actually cheaper in price than the cup 2. I am actually surprised the toyo is cheaper than the michelin tires.

But I heard the tread life is very horrible. I am not sure what the pilot super sport gives in mileage tho.

On my previous M3 my PSS lasted 15k miles with aggressive camber. The R888R lasted me 7k miles roughly on my current M3 and previous one.

Big difference but Im sure the Toyos hook so much better. Are the toyos really noisy? What size tires are you on?

TIA

I did 265/30/19 | 295/30/19 because at the time certain sizings were unavailable so these worked out the best.

Another for both those tires. Have re71r now, re flashing to Jordan E85 map tomorrow and so far on e30 OTS traction is rarely an issue. Had r888’s with modified cobra mustang and experienced the same. About 7-10k from each depending on driving style.

I had no problems on E30 but E85 a whole different animal. Maybe it's hard to gain traction because im starting at 2.5k then WOT as oppose to 4k and WOT

Yeah I’ve had PSS. There’s a world of difference from them and my re71r and r888’s. They are your best bet given your parameters IMO.

Which are the best? re71r or r888 over the PSS?

I find the re71r to be more "rounded" as in cornering characteristics and the r888's did a bit better for lateral grip. Both are wicked good at holding power. The only other difference, ever so slight, is the re71 seem to hold traction a little later in life. Both are great options but on an m car, prefer the re71r, on a straight line drag machine, rather the r888. That's just me and others experiences may vary.

I'm in the middle of tuning E85 with F80Paul and I'm having the same issue...no more traction in third. Things go sideways halfway through the gear.

I'm already on RE-71Rs in 305/30R19. Next step...Toyos or Mickeys.

Uh oh.... what are the outside temps where you’re at? This all recent with those same temps? Admittedly I’m in the southwest where it’s HOT most often.

2018 BMW M4 ZCP  [10.00]
I've been doing a lot of research on other forums on the Nitto NT555RII drag radials. From what I've been reading they're a combination of the NT05s and NT555Rs with a 100 UTQG rating, performing just as well or better in some cases as MTs. Supposedly they're better in the rain too.

I was initially concerned about side wall stability in terms of cornering, but received feedback that it's similar in handling characteristics to the NT05s. It's by no means a track tire, but in straight line traction it's getting some good reviews, especially when paired with the 555G2s in the front.

No first hand experience yet, but I'm seriously considering them come spring when my winter set comes off and I increase the power levels.

Chilly in Pennsylvania. Outside temp 50F and tire temp was 70F after a good warmup ride.

I’ve had many tires on this car, and the Michelin 4S holds my f80paul ethanol tune’s power the best. 305/30/19 btw

I'll report back tomorrow with all the same. Timing, boost targets, outside temp and tire temp. I'm only rocking 285/35/19's...

Well I tried to datalog after I installed my CBC, went to the station and filled up full E85 (tested). For some reason on iOS the option to log wasn’t available. My apologies.

Here’s what I know/have: catless DP, race resonated AWE exhaust, ssr intakes and Cary Jordan stage 2 tune.

Ambient temp: 70
Tire temp(s): average of 101 degrees
Rear Tires: re71r 285/35/19 sub 100 miles on tires
MDM mode, S+ settings, shift mode 2

Second gear full rip from 2500-6500 rpm, no loss of traction. Little scratching as expected. Thinking heat might make your 305’s more than adequate.

Today the roads warmed up a little more and I was able to pull off a 7.44sec Dragy 0-60 but I had to use just 4th gear. Third still spins since it's still chilly. My 3 4 was 7.49 sec. If it was over 70F the RE-71Rs would get sticky and I would drop them to 27PSI and rip some really good 3 4 pulls.

If you're logging for Cary then I would let him know that 3rd is spinning, and just start in 4th. To log for Paul I did single gear pulls from 2K to 7K for 3rd, then another for 4th, then 5th, all individual runs. I also did at least one or two combo rips for the type of run you're targeting. It's important to start at 2.5K, shift exactly at 6.5K RPM. I do either a 3 4 5 from 50-150, a 4 5 from 60-150, or a 3 4 from 55-130. The hard single gear pulls show a good picture of timing, fueling and boost/wastegating. The combo shows boost rebuild, and spikes at the shifts.

Remember, I'm in PA and it's 35-40F here during the days. If I'm lucky if a good day gets me 1-2hours at 55-60F. I see LA on your tag, so the RE-71R probably hold fine in your temps. I hear MPS4S is even better than REs (lil more grip, lot less noise).
