What is normal engine vibration?

What is normal when it comes to engine vibration?

Recently (in the last 2k miles) I've noticed that when parked (in neutral, 6mt) I get a shaking vibration from the engine through the cabin if rev'd btwn 1200 to 1500 RPM. I can feel it in the seat, steering wheel, and door. I don't believe it was there at all for the first 2k miles.

Anyone else? Maybe it's just a break-in symptom? Or is everyone else almost vibration free (you can't expect none, of course)?

Take it to the dealer as that does not seem right. Is this happening when the engine is cold or hot or all the time?

Keep us updated. IMO some vibration between 1200 and 1500 rpm is fine, but can't say if your car vibrates more than 'normal' or not.

Best regards, south

i notice a little vibration when i really pay attention, but nothing serious enough to make me wonder whether it was normal or not. you might want to have it checked out.

Wow. Thanks for the bump, but I can't say this is the right place (or thread) for this. M? Unspecified. E90/92/93? e39. New model, new car, new issue? Older model, older car, and unknown.

update

Just got back from the dealer, and let the shop foreman check out the engine vibration btwn 1100-1500 RPM. He noticed it and then we started up an e93 they had on the lot to compare. That car had about 105 miles on it, and produced identical vibration harmonics at identical RPMs. So, it seems like it's normal for the car to vibrate quite a bit in neutral at those RPM ranges.

At times i'll have "mild" vibrations, in which my rear sunshade will vibrate.

Theme has been extremely cold starts; and I assumed my exhaust only added to this.

Noise is so mild, that if i lower my sunshade, the vibration sound is gone.

All in all, I think your car is fine.
