wonderful surprise at the dealer

I just thought I would share my experience. I took my car to get a small factory blemish on the paint work fixed.

The service guy brought my car back with the hood not fully latched.

I was driving spirited on the freeway and noticed that the hood wasn't closed all the way, so I had to pull over to the freeway and push the hood down all the way on the driver's side. What would have happened if the hood flipped open and smashed against my windshield?

I recommend that you get your car serviced at a dealer that works on many M3's, i'm sure the dealer I went to doesn't see very many M3's and thus opened the hood to check out the engine.

I won't be taking my car there for any of the maintenance services, this makes me question if they know how to work on this car.

All modern hoods have a safety latch that prevents them from flying up. Honestly, it sounds like a small mistake and it's very unlikely that anything bad would have happened.

One of my hood latches actually popped open when I had the EDC set to the firmest setting and went over an undulation entering a parking lot that tweaked the chassis. At least that is my theory since I closed it that morning and it appeared to be latched on both sides.

I have a RHD M3 and have the same hood problem on the passenger side which is your drivers side, have to slam closed or gently push on that side till it locks in.

Next time I am at the dealer I am getting them to adjust it.

it sucks so many people hate their dealerships. mine is great. as a matter of fact, my drivers side latch on the hood wasn't latched when i picked it up today. i saw it when i got home, pushed it down, problem solved. i wouldn't get so bent out of shape about the hood not being fully latched, a lot of people's M3's do the same thing, including mine. it's not worth destroying a good relationship with your dealership over something so small. most bmw dealerships mean only the best and they absolutely work for you. bmwna doesn't tolerate shit.

+10000000

There are a few bad eggs (Savage BMW, for one), but the two dealerships that I use regularly bend over backwards to make sure I'm happy.

there are rubber bump stops you can easily adjusts yourself so that the hood closes evenly. my driver's side wouldn't close without a slam until I adjusted it. nothing to get bent out of shape over. and yes, it is in everybody's best interest to remain on good terms with their dealer. i know everyone likes to make jokes about the "stealer", but c'mon guys, it is a business. every business is in the business of making a profit, and everyone needs to earn a paycheck at their place of employment right?

Care to share which dealership you used? Oh, and yes...i don't think the dealership necessarily did anything wrong here.
