DCT vs Manual

Which one do you prefer? It seems to me that manual should be more involving and exciting.

Both are great...DCT is fast as hell i've heard, my dealer said, and I quote, "if you want speed, go with DCT." lol...

I myself prefer manual though...have always had MT cars...same with my ordered M3.

One thing for sure is ... both DCT & Manual are much better than AT.

More than one thread, you say? There have got to be at least 20 threads on this subject with identical statements and points being made. Every one of these threads degenerated into personal attacks.

The OP has been a member since March and has more than a hundred posts to his name. He should know better.

Actually, I am not asking which one is better performing (I can read the specs). I asked which one makes your driving experience more enjoyable and exciting. I don't think I saw any thread like that.

depends if you're into the gadget part of it like i am. all the ways that i can configure a dct to perform like i want it to at that time is a lot more exciting for me than rowing through 6 gears...it's like flying an airplane! i still shift, i just don't have a clutch pedal. i love the dct because of that....and i sit through mounds of traffic all the time and it's never fun to hold the clutch in for hours.

You Dallas-ites don't even know the first thing about traffic.

not so fast...according to forbes, dallas is ahead of houston in the worst traffic race for 2008. we come in at 5th place while houston is in 8th. but i don't think i should really celebrate having worse traffic...

edit:
Quote:
As a result, Dallas has worse congestion than Houston; fewer people utilize non-single-driver commutes (15% for Dallas, 17% for Houston) and area drivers experience 58 hours of delays annually, compared with Houston's 56 hours.

I'm picking up my M3 next week. My other car is a GTR so I'm getting a manual and can't wait. As with most manumatics, GTR included, I end up leaving it in auto and can get bored. V8+6MT=fun. Imagine if the C63 had a manual? oh my.

Yeah, by the Galleria mall. Kinda like the traffic around the Galleria mall in Houston. To be avoided at all costs.
