Brake squeak and lurching forward coming to a stop
When you're coming to a stop do your brakes squeak sometimes? Mine do..and I've been told from the dealer that's "normal". I took the car in to get the software upgrade and told them to check the brakes out. They said they're fine again, didn't do anything, and dismissed it as normal. The car has 400 miles on it already. Think I should keep haggling with them or just accept it and hope it goes away with more mileage on the car?
Second question, when you guys come to a stop, usually when it downshifts to 2nd gear, does the car lurch forward sometimes as your pressing the brakes? It doesn't seem to be during the actual gear changes either. I noticed it before and after the DCT software update. Lastly, am I the only one who gets paranoid when I bring the car to the dealer out of fear some of the mechanics/drivers might gun the car during it's break in period? |

IMO, after 400 miles on your M3, the breakpads might still be putting grooves into the rottors... and thus making them squeek...
For the second part of your question, don't have an answer to that... except it might jerk you forward if you downshift with high rpm. Although im not sure. For your last comment, when you give 60-80k for a M3, you damn better be paranoid about every little thing.. because when something goes wrong its kinda late... So im the same way... something is off or something doesnt seem right.. the car is going into the dealer to get it checked out... |

My brakes squeked. Brought it to BMW twice and they replaced the pads the second time I brought it to be serviced. The brakes still squeked after i picked up the car. I got some good advice on the forum to brake hard which I did and the squeking has stopped. By the way the first time I brought the car to be serviced not only did they return the car without the toe hook, but they also scratched the rear bumper. BMW repainted the rear bumper and replaced the toe hook. Hence I would be worried about leaving the car at the service center.

I think it's normal. I'm pretty sure I read something somewhere (yeah I know, real specific) about the brakes being 'high-performance' and thus squeaking.
I have nearly 5k miles on my car and they have always whined intermittently. I asked my dealer about it and he said not to worry. I think things like temperature, how hard you are on them and speed all contribute. Sometimes I'll go a couple weeks sans noise.
