Maybe your car already had the update to begin with . For me the shifts became noticeably faster. It's not "instant", but it is close.

I'd imagine they didn't do the update correctly. Do you know if the dealer you took it to has done many updates? Maybe you can take it to a different BMW dealer.

I heard the DCT update only really affected cars produced before Sept 08
My car shifted almost 1 full second after I clicked the paddle.
Now...clickshiftclickshift!!!

I did the update on my car and it felt a lot better afterwards.

No complaints here. Bring it back to your dealer.

Went in to install my new winter wheels/tires and asked about the update.. It was available and my car is now updated. I can tell the difference, shifts are smoother and quicker.. I only drove the car for 10-15 miles, I'll update you after a week or so.

Changes after software update

I had the update for less than a week and had a chance to play with the car. I've noticed the following:
1. No jerkiness on take off, much smoother and less embarrassing.
2. Smoother shifts are less perky than before, during spirited driving even in the M mode with the sportiest settings

I guess they couldn't provide us with best of both worlds, but I still think it's the best car I've ever driven.

If you got the car in August then you do not have the update. The update has only been out for about 2 weeks.

All DCT cars are being updated, whether that is because you asked for it or it will be done the next time you get a service. The update takes about 6 hours to do so the dealer may need to keep the car overnight.

I went in for the update and I'm unsure if I really received it. None of my car's settings were wiped; everything was the same. Invoice stated they "applied SIB yadayada". Can't really feel a difference...

I found that I lost all the equaliser setting in audio and my trip meter was back to zero. Seat settings remained though.
