Blocked Washers Question G11 7

Hello

My jets aren't doing any water.

There are three, the first one by the drivers side works but is a bit ... low in pressure, the middle one works less and the far one even less.

When I quickly stab the washer activation stalk all three shoot something out - but when I hold the stalk only the first one works and it's quite weak.

Done a pin in the hole of each and wiggled the rubber about a bit. Does it need to go in?

Is there any way to disconnect the pipe closer to the washer bottle to see if you have enough pressure at source, that may help with determining if it is a pump issue or a blockage somewhere in the pipe nearer the washer jets.

Also, obvious question, it has enough water in the bottle?

Garage List
Disconnect the pipe and run some compressed air in it?

Is this really a thing?

Surely any screen wash is ok. What's special about the BMW/Bosch/OEM stuff?

probably nothing special, but BMW specifically advised against using products such as RainX which can cause pump failure

I was told by an old independent import mechanic that a bit of diluted white vinegar will dissolve any scaling that might be building up in the lines.

The jets on my 2019 have been slow to start spraying as well. I'll give it a try myself and report back.

This is very true and stems back from the days of the E90 (head over to E90post for further details). During freezing weather, many of the headlight washer covers were breaking when the headlight wash was called for and so owners went to their dealers to get this fixed under warranty.

However many dealers refused to honour this as a warranty claim since owners did not use the BMW Screenwash.

Costs about £20 for 5 litres so not too expensive.

I get all these from abroad. Never buy fluids in the Uk at Bmw dealers. trust me : different quality !

And from Ebay ?? NEVER!
